The annual Entrants Event—held simultaneously across Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch—announces the category finalists for the Hi-Tech Awards later in May.

Christchurch-based companies claimed four of the six finalist slots in the hotly contested Best Hi-Tech start-up category, joining over 30 finalists from across New Zealand.

Frank Owen, Managing Director, Tait Communications, says: "The high-technology sector plays a crucial role in the economic growth of New Zealand.

"We take an active interest in nurturing this growth, whether it's through continued sponsorship of the Hi-Tech Awards, our partnership with the University of Canterbury's NZ ICT Innovation Institute, or the graduate interns we employ each year.

"Tait Communications is delighted to partner with an event which celebrates the continued excellence and success achieved across our local technology industries. Congratulations to all of the 2012 finalists."

Winners in each category will be announced at a black-tie gala dinner to be held in Auckland, in May.
