COPEL celebrates new city-wide Tait P25 digital network

Companhia Paranaense de Energia (COPEL) and Tait Communications have celebrated the inauguration of a city-wide digital radio network in Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil.

Designed to support COPEL's utility operations, the four-site TaitNet P25 Conventional Network and Tait P25-compliant radios provide COPEL with improved network coverage across the city of Curitiba. Moreover, the system provides mission-critical reliability for COPEL's utility workers.

COPEL, one of Brazil's largest electrical utilities, serves 1.8 million customers and employs more than 9,000 people.

Paulo Freitas, Electrical Engineer, COPEL, who addressed attendees at the inauguration, said the Tait solution has met all of the requirements, and he was very pleased with the digital radio network in place.

"With 1.8 million people depending on our infrastructure and services, we must use cutting-edge radio communications technology to minimize the risk of network failures on all levels," says Freitas.

"With the Tait team here to celebrate the inauguration of our new system, we are confident that Tait is here to support us in the long-term."

Hamish Wiig, Vice-President of Sales, Tait Communications Latin America, said: "We are delighted to celebrate and recognize COPEL's significant investment in mission-critical digital infrastructure. It's great to see yet another Brazilian utility select Tait P25 technology as their preferred solution."
